We all know that regular exercise and a balanced diet are important to keep our bodies in shape. There is however a world of difference between knowing something and doing anything about it.

It seems that in order to be healthy, you have to enjoy frequenting websites that are filled with homoerotic photographs of other men’s oiled torsos, showing you in no uncertain terms how much fitter than you they are. You have to somehow try to take in a load of mumbo-jumbo about high carb diets, low carb diets, food pyramids, ketones, zones, calories and trans-fats. You have to purchase lots of exercise equipment that you had previously ridiculed when you’d seen it advertised on cable television. Hordes of people with unfeasibly white teeth and gravy-brown skin are queueing up to tell you that everyone else is wrong and that their way alone is the path to incredible weight loss and muscle growth. Nobody in the fitness game seems to have any sense of humour whatsoever.

Worst of all is the fact that exercise seems to require you to don sportswear, which everyone knows is the attire of the common thief. If Rocky made do with some grubby grey sweat pants, why do these people insist that you need sweat-wicking capabilities and stupid vents and itchy fabrics? Why is it that training shoes have to look like something left over from Blake’s 7? Do I really need an isotonic sports drink after a stroll around the local wildlife sanctuary? Do any of these diets actually do anything useful?

Enough is enough. I decided that it was time to start a website for people who want to get in shape but find the thought of those fitness type people repulsive. If the ‘aspirational’ images of athletic types make you want to reach for a kebab, welcome aboard!
